First aid

Use green safe condition signs to alert visitors to first aid facilities. All first aid signs feature a green background and a white image for ‘first aid’ – the white cross. The white cross is image E003 in the ISO 7010 Health and Safety Regulations 1996, so is universally recognised.

Are first aid kits mandatory in the workplace? The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 state that employers must provide: ‘adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work’.
